You will use Adobe Illustrator to trace 5 files that can be downloaded by clicking here. In addition to tracing these five files, you will choose 2 other images to trace (any design that the student wants to trace that shows off the capabilities of the tools available in Illustrator). You will have 7 Illustrator files in total.

You will also be responsible for scanning a file using either the scanners provided in the lab or a scanner of your own. This file should then be placed into Illustrator. If you use a scanner from the lab, a lab assistant will be more than happy to walk you through the process. The purpose of this exercise is simple: soon your paper sketches will need to get into Illustrator for tracing (see how this all comes together?). Scanning is the process by which this will happen.
